Brooks Koepka, one of the first players to denounce a rival league for only 48 players joins the LIV Golf series. Brooks is the latest PGA Tour player to join the Saudi-funded LIV Golf series. The 32-year-old is the latest big name to join the controversial series, following Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson.
Koepka was the second player, behind Rory McIlroy, who spoke out against a rival league in March 2020 when he stated that he will have a hard time believing golf should be about just 48 players.
“Money isn’t going to change my life,” Koepka said at the time.
Koepka really gives LIV Golf some serious credit with four major titles under his belt.
LIV Golf Update
Brooks Koepka joins the LIV Golf Series and other golfers are expected to follow in his footsteps. There was endless speculation during the U.S. Open involving more than a dozen names, some of whom have expressed no interest in going.
It was also reported over the weekend that Abraham Ancer of Mexico was signing as well. Ancer is No. 20 in the world with one PGA Tour victory.
Next LIV Golf Event
Koepka, who is ranked 19th in the Official World Golf Ranking, is expected to compete in the first LIV Golf event in the United States, at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Oregon, starting June 30th.
Brooks Koepka joins the LIV Golf Series and now they have signed eight of the top 50 players in the world; Bryson DeChambeau (ranked 30th) and Patrick Reed (38th) are expected to compete in the event in Portland as well.
