2nd place Cameron Young made $1,45 million
3rd place Rory Mcllroy took home $933 thousand
Making The Cut To Make Cash
LIV Golf: Each golfer in the 48-man field will be poised to take home at least $120,000
The Open: Outside the top 10, the prize money continues to decrease incrementally until it reaches the cut mark, with the lowest player into the weekend set to claim $32,000
That’s Not All Folks
LIV Golf also features a team aspect and the four winning members of the team portion of the competition will receive an extra $750,000 on top of their payouts.
How Has This Affected Prize Money In Golf Moving Forwards
The LIV Golf event in Portland had a purse worth $7.5 million more then the most lucrative major on the PGA Tour which is the U.S. Open (Purse – $17.5 million).
This has caused the PGA Tour to announce that for 8 of their events next season there will be a larger purse. These events are going to have purses worth $20 million in total
